Megan McGowen

I am a Tax Preparer at Xpatax Solutions, bringing both a strong accounting foundation and a deeply personal connection to the world of expat taxes. I grew up in Upstate South Carolina, where weekends spent exploring the Blue Ridge mountains instilled in me a determination and resilience that continue to shape how I approach challenges today. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of South Carolina, but it was a pivotal life experience that ultimately directed my career toward international tax preparation. When my husband and I relocated our family to Austria, I experienced firsthand the complexity and uncertainty that comes with filing U.S. taxes from abroad. Rather than feeling overwhelmed, I found myself energized by the challenge and began pursuing formal tax education; a decision that set me on the path I’m on today. Austria remains one of my favorite places in the world, and that experience gave me a genuine empathy for the clients I now serve. I also bring a strong customer service orientation from my accounting background, which has shaped the way I communicate with and support clients through complicated processes. I believe deeply in honesty and integrity; principles I uphold at work and at home. Outside of the office, I enjoy gardening, hiking, martial arts, and spending time with my family.
